Aluminum beer bottles are set to make an even bigger splash this summer.
Sales of 16-ounce aluminum bottles were up 7.5 percent in the 52 weeks ended March 25, according to Nielsen data.
And now MillerCoors is putting two more beers in this popular container: original Redd’s Apple Ale and major craft player Blue Moon Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale.
Both beers are available in single-serves and six-packs.
Aluminum bottles are resealable, offering consumers a better container for occasions like festivals and the beach, where glass may be prohibited and sand in your beer can is definitely frowned on.
“Aluminum pints offer ultimate convenience for drinkers, especially during the warmer months,” said Josh Wexelbaum, marketing director of emerging brands at MillerCoors. “Whether tailgating before the game or making the most of time outdoors, the resealable cap guarantees your beer will taste just as great and cold from the first to last sip.”
Another plus: Aluminum bottles are 100 percent recyclable.
Blue Moon and Redd’s join Miller Lite and Coors Light in the MillerCoors aluminum pint lineup. Miller Lite took the aluminum pint nationwide in 2009, and Coors Light has offered one since 2010.
