Miller Lite, the original light beer, has not been shy about advertising why it’s a better choice than Bud Light.
Now Miller Lite is challenging Bud Light in bars across the country in a blind taste test called “Know Your Beer.”
The goal is to have more than 500,000 consumers take the test by the end of the summer.
In the test, teams will ask bar patrons to compare two beers – identified as beer A and beer B – according to color, aroma and taste. One of the beers is Miller Lite, the other is Bud Light.
Fortune talked to Jason Pratt of MillerCoors about the Know Your Beer program.
From the article:
"We want to give people a chance to evaluate beers side-by-side," said Jason Pratt, a MillerCoors beer educator, in an interview with Fortune. "And the hope at the end of it is they have a better understanding of the beers in front of them and they can make a choice based on what's in front of them."
Pratt added, "Bud Light is the most popular beer in the country … [i]f you are going to be the best, you have to compete against the best."
