No doubt technology is making music festivals more fun.
You can scan an RFID wristband to get in, and then swipe it to buy food and drinks (which means faster beer lines — 🍻).
Or you might use a virtual-reality headset to experience 360-degree panoramic views of the festival grounds — even if you’re not there.
But one of the coolest things about festivals is pretty low-tech — a good old-fashioned concert poster.
We asked noted illustrators to create artwork for festivals Miller Lite is sponsoring in 2016, like Summerfest in Milwaukee, New York’s Governors Ball, Austin City Limits Music Festival and our free Conciertos Originales series.
We also asked for pop, country and rock designs that you’ll see at select shows nationwide. (Scroll down for examples from Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, and Country Thunder and Eaux Claires fests in Wisconsin.)
The artists came up with all sorts of awesome — an astronaut wearing a Miller Lite can backpack, a steely-eyed rattlesnake staking a claim to a boot and a beer, and a giant octopus rocking out in the Hudson River.
Look for the artwork throughout the festivals and at the Miller Lite Beer Halls — special hangouts we’re setting up on the grounds of Governors Ball and Austin City Limits Music Festival. Nearby bars will have pint glasses and coasters with designs inspired by the festival art as well.
But how do you get a poster? Like we said last year, if you see one … it can’t hurt to ask. And some bars will host events where you can create a digital version of the festival posters.
Maybe not so low-tech after all.
